Kataklysm (Darkworld + Books 1-5)

Although this has a very Cradle feel to it, it's unique and stunning and magical and magnificent and awesome! There are distinct paths one can ascend to, but only if you're one chosen to, and most importantly, choose between right and wrong, or rather light or dark. This story follows the paths,the trials and tribulations of a few characters. Blaike, a miner, who by an unfortunate deed finds himself in a major predicament. His mentor and, for want of a better word, surrogate father, has tried to teach Blaike of the past, telling him stories which Blaike is hard pressed to believe. He's the lowest of the low, pathless, clanless. Following his "path" was as exciting as it was rivetting, enjoyment personified! But it's not only Blaike that drew me in, the characters surrounding him are just as intriguing, they captured me all on their own. There is much to discover in this series, there's growth, there's friendship, there's love, there's betrayal and boy is there amazing action too! Want more? There are unique deities, there is unique magic, there is a unique plot and with this author's remarkable storytelling, I'm in it, hook, line and sinker to the very end! I'm finding each book in this series more exciting, more brain shatteringly brilliant! The progression of the plot and story, the growth of the characters, the compelling writing, by a superbly skilled author, propels me to unimaginable highs! Much like the works of Will Wight, the magic system is unique, the worlds are unique, the prose superb and the storytelling stunningly captivating. Once started, it's impossible to release until the final word in the final sentence. There were so many twists and turns, my head was spinning from the skilled way the author took a single strand and manipulated it into a thousand! Who I thought was, what I thought was, wasn't! And never once could I see it coming! Amazing! This dead world comes alive through the eyes of the characters, their plight, their adventures, their journey. There is layer upon layer, assembled to perfection, until a towering masterfully crafted novel takes shape before my very eyes. Spellbinding is the only way I can describe this series! A fascinating world of fiction, sci-fi, AI's, different realms and "gods" and a magic system which is splendid to behold. The combination is genius, so many aspects that enthrall and captivate. Fans of Will Wight will love this series, complex, intriguing, well written and a reading fest of note. I love the players in this fascinating tale. They're explored indepth so one gets to know them almost intimately. And there are quite a few "actors", I could imagine a well coordinated and choreographed high end play, with me sitting completely motionless, enthralled in the events taking place really great immersing myself in the trials and how they overcome them. Overcome probably is a bit optimistic, they faught, they rallied, they lost, they despaired, yet still retained their determination and conviction. I love how real the characters all are, the emotions and the uncertainty plagues them all as they progress. The entire story is a very clever twist on human behaviour, the good, the evil, the manipulation, the greed, set in a world devoid of natural sunlight, no sun shining down to sustain life, due to an ongoing experiment. This is a brutal world, plunged into darkness, the sun obscured, where light orbs are greedily hoarded. There is much mired in mystery, the unknown, the uncertainty but as these 2 sentences so aptly put "How can anyone know peace if not for chaos? How can anyone know light if not for darkness?" speaks volumes! Another extremely well executed book by Theophilus Monroe, written in his pen name, unique and engaging one can only spur on the characters, feel their triumphs, feel their pain and feel their need to survive in this desolate landscape where so much of the unimaginable occurs. A beautifully complex tale, a tale guaranteed to titillate you, guaranteed to immerse you, guaranteed to make you want more! It will take you on an adventure you could only dream of, to different continents, to amazing inventive world's, to the most unusual creatures and the most spectacular "gods". TR Magnus is an author you'll never forget, you'll want to lay your hands on everything he's written. Guaranteed!

Kataklysm (Darkworld + Books 1-5)

Ok this is for the 5 book deluge I was sad to hear it would be no more after this last book I was enjoying them so much so was sad to hear it was being ended so after reading the last book I will miss the series it was different from the authors other books I admit at first I was unsure but glad I did read them they are good in their own right so worth every penny if want something different check them out

Kataklysm (Darkworld + Books 1-5)

This is a different type of series from what the author usually writes. Dark fantasy, on a faraway world – light is previous, and few can use its magic. Toss in the will of the gods (who assist the mages as they strengthen their magic) and you have an original tale. The characters are interesting, their conflicts significant. Good series, and worth the read.
