Loved it good to see her side of the story already ordered the 2nd book and will defo be ordering the others as well just seen book 3 and 4 so be getting them as well I read the ebooks great set of books loved the story great author fantastic books loved all his other books as well
I'm really not into your earlier books due to language and sexual content. I started reading your books under Judah Lamb because of the Christian content I was looking for.

I am mixed on it. Dont really care for all the vampire stuff but I do understand the book is abouthow no one is beyond redemption.

Alice’s faith is stronger after enduring being a weapon during World War I. Still working with the Order – but seeing it for what it is – she seems to be searching for answers and grappling with how to stay strong in her beliefs. This series seems more introspective than the author’s others. Also, more religious-focused, and full of internal debate. This story has far more of that than action. At times it can run slow, though the revelations and character evolution are strong. I also love the author’s Charleston: 1920s post-WWI, a city in the modern world but still wrestling with its history (which seems to be a pretty good description of Alice).
It is a lot different than other books; with religious conotations. It has a really good story. It's quite engaging I'm invested and currently reading the second book. Definitely worth the money 💰 I spent to own them on my Kindle
A new slant on vampires which I found interesting. A heroine worth empathy and enough crumbs to look forward to where they will take Alice

Bringing in scripture and interpretation into a vampire story was great. I enjoyed reading a story involving two of my interests.
This tale is darker than the author's previous books. That said, I could not put it down, it held me 'in thrall'. It starts the explanation of why and how Faith became the hunter she was. I'm really looking forward to the following 'episodes'
I loved the backstory that explained the origin of Alice & how the “Order…” came about. An interesting concept, creating a Christian vampire. I recommended this book to my twin, who herself is a Christian. I figured this would not conflict with her beliefs. Great job!

Of Fangs and Faith takes us to the beginning of Alice as a vampire. She is full of faith and tries to help Mercy Brown who is dying. She also witnesses Mercy becoming a vampire. She is there when Mercy’s father digs her up and removes her heart. Alice is twisted with the judgement in all this. Still, her faith prevails.
Excellent start of a series about a religious vampire. Never thought I'd ever read something like this but it was a great story! Can't wait for more!!
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was very well written and well worth reading. I would definitely recommend and I am looking forward to book 2 once written

Great book. Love the backstory of Alice. This really gets you into her mind and lets you understand her. Absolutely love the storyline and the characters were wonderful.

This book starts off at an earlier time in Alice's life, before she became the horror and monster of nightmares. A time where she was a dutiful daughter, strong in her faith, and before she and Mercy met, which starts centuries of animosity, loathing and a bitterness that refuses to abate. A time when women were seen as inferior, a time where anyone outside the "norms" imposed by church elders was seen as heresy, devil worship and witchcraft. A time when people were falling like flies from consumption. With Mercy dying in the sanatorium, Alice's father, together with Mercy's father, orchestrate a plot for Mercy's "soul". Alice is front and centre in this scheme of "redeeming" Mercy. But...the very first night, Alice witnesses something she struggles to wrap her head around and then she learns of a secret organisation, the Order of the Morning Dawn. She's draws, unwillingly, into this world that's so against her devout faith. The hypocrisy of the Order is evident immediately, by Mercy's father at any rate, consorting with that which he swore to destroy. Things don't end here for Alice, despite her doubts, despite her unease, they just get more complicated, more convoluted as the Order enforces yet another deed upon her. Like a lamb drawn to slaughter, Alice is led on a path she couldn't avoid. My heavens did I LOVE this whole Alice POV! She was a reviled character in previous books, someone firmly entrenched as the supreme baddie, although we did get glimpses of her metamorphoses, I was completely unprepared for the angst and drama in this read. Which I simply adored btw.The horrors that Alice witnessed, the horrors that Alice was forced to witness were incredibly vivid, gory and unbelievable. Her shock is palpable, her faith is out in jeopardy, she's shaken, her deed is revulsion, penned exceptionally by the author. I could feel and see everything Alice did, even I shuddered in disbelief! The ramifications of what went down had Alice, good, pious, respectful, obedient Alice, is beyond distressed, she even challenges her father when she utter this "You tell me witchcraft is evil, but when there's no hope, we run to it like a dog to it's vomit". The changes Alice goes through, the things she's forced to do, the realisation that she can do nothing but adhere to the despicable Silas' demands, even though she knows it's wrong, she's knows she's been fed a line. She sees the lies, she sees how he manipulates her, she sees that he enjoys enticing her to lose control but she also sees she's helpless to stop any of this. But hope comes in the guise of Father O'Malley and boy did I cheer as another transformation of Alice begins. This author has a way of drowning one in his books, grabbing hold of one until the very end. And, flipping heck, I wasn't even aware I needed to surface for air! Theo's storytelling is so compulsively compelling, fast paced and gripping, once I start any book by him, I am lured to read it in one sitting. This book was a lot darker than the author's previous reads, there's usually a lightness, comical shenanigans and banter, but this is all about a group of thugs who are arrogant, self righteous, vengeful, all in the name of religion. This is not a black and white story, so many things are at play, real fears are manipulated, heinous deeds are implemented, all in the name of "good", all in the name of "God". Except, as Alice quickly learns, she's just a pawn to be moved by the will of a misguided and, frankly, terrifying Order. Yes, there are major Christian references but absolutely NOT the preaching type, this is vital in capturing the era of religious zealots, who, by their very nature, are militant extremists. That which one doesn't understand, in this time period of the late 1800's, is seen as the work of the devil. What Theo has managed to do, exceptionally, is draw a line to show what lengths some would go to in the name of religion. So while this is a purely fictional tale, there is much truth in the story of methods used across the ages. Despicable methods that got many innocents caught in the cross hairs. Heart stopping, emotional read. Brilliant!

Theo introduced us to Alive through out work across his vampire series. I was excited to explore her backstory. She is a different kind of vampire - devout in her faith, and not the mindless bloodsucking monster so many portray vampires in literature. Interesting character development and depth. A good exploration of more of the philosophical/theological side of vampires, and extremely thought-provoking. Can monsters be redeemed?
she once acted unintentionally cruelly in the name of faith and of justice. new opportunities for different chances, choices and defense of those who might need it could give unexpected folks different choices and chances. like with Cain, relative justice, different choices and different possibilities - maybe. mysteries and more beyond death.
We have met Alice in previous series, however this is the first book in a series which gives us Alice's own story, and boy is it interesting. Alice Bladewell was a good obedient young woman, the daughter of a pastor, who seemed to be immune when consumption became rampant, and used to go and pray with those who were dying. Mr. Brown, Mercy's father, had placed Mercy in a sanatorium because she was dying, and he begged Alice to go pray with her as he feared she was turning to dark magic to save her life. However Mercy was turned into a vampire and thus became immortal, and in turn she bit Alice. Alice fell into the hands of the Order of the Morning Dawn, a fanatical religious organization who intended training her to become a Nightwalker, and to hunt those like herself, who they considered evil. She became their weapon, and was forced by Silas to commit horrors on women labeled as witches and vampires. Alice never lost her faith in God and soon realised that by her actions for the order she was not really going to be granted the redemption she was promised, so she turned to someone else for help. And her strength and faith helped her become the order's worst nightmare. I really enjoyed reading Alice's background history, and I love that she finally woke up to the reality she was being turned into, that the monsters were all around her, and she refused to be used, but I must admit I was angry almost throughout the book at seeing how gullible Alice was in the beginning. However now I look forward to reading the rest of the series as I know Alice does become her own person once she gained awareness.
I really enjoyed this story of how Alice became a vampire! I loved how Alice didn’t become the monster she feared she was. I thought this was a wonderful story! I can’t wait to read more!
