My hand rests on Emilie's swollen belly, the gentle rise and fall a constant reminder of the miracle – and the terror – that grows within her.
Every kick, every flutter... love that burns fierce and a fear that chills me to the bone.
Strange lights writhe across the sky, constellations twisting into unnatural shapes.
A celestial sign from nature herself. A warning about of the child we're bringing into the world.
Emilie weakens with each passing day, the once vibrant spark in her eyes replaced by a hollowness that can only be attributed to the soul that grows within.
The lines blur – protecting our family, saving the city – they twist together into a tangled knot.
Our team scrambles for answers. But we're not just an agency, anymore. We're a family.
And we stand together.
The fate of our child, and quite possibly the world, hangs in the balance.
Prophecies be damned.
This is our child. And she won't become the horror the world expects.
I've always fought alongside nature.
But this time... I might have to fight against it to save our baby.
The Curse and the Cradle is the seventh book in the new Druid Detective Agency urban fantasy series. Elijah and Emilie already went through one adventure. Now, ten years after The Druid Legacy, they are facing new challenges that will test their limits.
Harry Potter meets Harry Dresden in Druid Detective Agency.

I really enjoyed this series, I'm not usually a fan of time travel novels but Marlin made it so easy. I was very pleasantly surprised.

Just started reading and I do like the characters. My favorite so far is Sir Percival, aka Percy if you dare. I am reading Roundtable Nights.

I have to admit I read most of the series before warming up to the characters. However, this final(?) book produced the most wonderfully complex, comedic and confusing plot I've seen in a long time. The level of snark and dad jokes was perfect. Throughout the D.D.A. series, Theo has consistently thrown unexpected twists. This series now has me in the mood for some more feisty urban fantasy with Mercy Thompson or October Daye.

It gripped me from the first line. Exciting and without all the cursing. Lots of twists and turns too. I can’t wait to read the others on the list.

A great storyline on how Elijah and Emilie are fighting, along with their amazing ‘family’ to ensure that their soon to be born daughter does not fall into the clutches of Lucifer. Merlin as a doting big brother feels her power and believes she will have a great future, all they have to do is ensure Morganna and Lucifer do not win

Very enchanted with the books. Even though I read some of them out of order. Then had to start over again, everything was much clearer. Can’t wait to read them all. Slow going since I had surgery and can’t seem to stay awake for more than 8 minutes at a time. Love your Druid tales.

To save Eimear from Lucifer, Elijah and Blackwood travel back in time to before Morgana makes her deal with him, while Merlin keeps the portal open for a faster return to the present. This story has plenty of action, ending with a cliffhanger. I received a copy of this book via the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I love Ursula! I had suspicions about her, but she is such a hoot! I hope that what Elijah cooked up to thwart Lucifer will work. I guess we will find out in a future book. I can’t wait! These books are so much fun to read! I love the melding of myth, legend, and reality. I highly recommend!

when Lucifer himself is after your child, what are the options and choices? Another intense spin on elements of the adventures of Merlin and his extended family. apocalyptic threats seem to be part of daily life and death for the family connected to Merlin - are these fatal or world ending connections? I really enjoy reading through the action connected to this realm shaking drama.

Received as an ARC, I am leaving my honest review. This series just gets more intense and suspenseful as the story progresses from book to book. Prepare for an incredible plan to save Emilie’s daughter from Lucifer when she is born. The plan has long been known between the major characters in this story but readers are kept guessing until the epic ending. But until then, battle plans are formed, carried out and beautifully interwoven with the progression of the need to protect Emilie and Merlin. This was a story that was very hard to put down and I sure can’t wait to read what’s next!

Crazy times around the Wadsworth family – a new baby on the way, evil demons, a pact with the devil, and some random time travel. Not sure how anyone manages all that. Elijah and his team have to break an age-old agreement, otherwise they are handing his soon-to-be-born daughter to the devil (wild, huh?). Continued good character interplay, and new worlds to explore. Theo’s imagination (and grasp of mythic history) just continues to grow.

The excitement revs up in this book, the anxiety revs up, the mystery revs up...why, you might wonder. Well, I'll tell you why. Emilie is about to give birth, Emilie is carrying Elijah's baby, which should be a time of joy and anticipation. But .. THIS baby is different, this baby has a nasty soul attached to it, this baby is on Lucifer's radar, so yeah, anxiety central rules! With a new midwife in toe, they move back to the Spire, the safest place for the birth, or is it... Elijah calls in the awesome Sebastian and his team to help protect Emilie and the baby. With tough , badassed Sebastian, Angie, Wheatley and whacky Donnie adding in the mix together with Joni, and the wisdom of Merlin, both young and old, what can go wrong?Ummmm...yes.... Another cool Theo basic, bringing in characters from other series, all mingled together, all important in the grand scheme of things. And the scheme? Heck, it's to twart Lucifer who not only wants the baby but Sebastian's wife too! What an intricately intertwined plot, yet seamlessly paints a full picture, leaving not even an ioto of canvas bare, sublime! Oh my, the adventures! Teleportation, trying to find an ancient tablet, fighting ALL sorts of things, and get back to Emilie before she goes into labour, pffttt, easy peasy! Hells bells, not! I love the blend of myth, magic and realism this author brings to every book he writes. It's a combo that constantly keeps me on the edge of my seat as I unravel the going on's with these cool characters. I love the corny dad jokes and there couldn't be a more corny character than Ned! He's, well, special.... This humour is a signature move of Theo's and I love the unexpected element of it. And oy, another trait is to twist things so tightly, I'm left wondering who, what, where he's going, often knocking me off my feet! Ursula is a prime example, I had NO idea what her motive was, who the "he" she keeps muttering to herself is and when it comes out, I forgot to breathe! And Corvus! Whoa!!!! Majestically tense, had me worried for a moment or two! This is what this author does, he almost playfully throws out a story full of light hearted banter and shenanigans, with characters that make me giggle, that I'm astonished at the depth of his plot, the magnificent world he builds, step by step, drawing me up to "his spire" gasping. His mastery in storytelling is outstanding! I swear to the high heavens I wasn't sure who to trust and who not to....As Elijah said "the enemy of my enemy who used to be my enemy and might be my enemy again could (at least for today) be my ally" All I know is, in the final few chapters my head was spinning, I felt as though a noose was tightening round my neck, squeezing....my heart was racing as though I had a whole herd of bison on my tail! And then the relief, the noose suddenly relinquished it's stranglehold, the bison dissolved into a mist and my heart slowly got it's rightful beat back. What a fabulous read! This one was choc-a-block full of angst, manipulation, outsmarting and new bonds being formed and what better way to bring a smile to my face than to be presented with the miracle of a newborn baby! It's far from over though, there's still the other babies that are at risk, and Lucifer to be stopped.... I'm so looking forward to more!

Wow this book is the cherry on the cake and I loved it, it sort of gives us a bit of an ending but I am sure we will be reading more about Elijah, Emilie and Merlin in the near future. Elijah is fighting with all he's got to save his daughter who is about to be born and stolen by Lucifer himself, according to a pact signed by Morgana the witch, who is being re-born as Eimear. However in order to save his daughter he had to leave Emilie in the hands of their friends and a midwife who was as quirky as hell. He travels with Merlin and Blackwood into Anwwn in search of Morgana's cave in order to stop the pact from being signed in the first place. So in this book we travel not only through portals to different places but time travel too. I loved that we got to see the future Merlin in action, as well as seeing character from other series aiding Elijah save not only his daughter but the world. Sebastian Winter is as usual amazing as he stands up to Lucifer, being the only one able to do so. This book gives us a great ending where we see family being put first and foremost, loved and enjoyed. This is a real feel good book, enjoy!

Eimear, a child of prophecy, is about to be born. Elijah does not like that prophecy - that she will be claimed by Evil - and will do whatever it takes to save his daughter. It will take all of the Druid Detective Agency's members, plus Sebastian Winters and his crew, and a unique midwife to stand any chance of success. Will his efforts work, or will his newborn daughter be ripped from his family?
